Refund Policy

EU consumers have a 14-day right of withdrawal. Once you have used the service — run a scan — the digital content has been delivered and the right of withdrawal is waived. Please read this policy before subscribing.

1. Overview

This Refund Policy explains our policy regarding refunds for ScanTheGap subscriptions. ScanTheGap is a digital subscription service that provides AI-powered market gap analysis, instant access to scan results, digital reports and exports, and ongoing platform access. Once you have used the service by running a scan, the digital content has been delivered and consumed.

2. EU Right of Withdrawal — 14-Day Cooling Off Period

For EU consumers

If you are a consumer in the European Union, you have the right to withdraw from your purchase within 14 days without giving any reason, in accordance with the EU Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU).

When the right applies

  • You have subscribed to ScanTheGap
  • You have not yet used the service — you have not run any scans
  • It is within 14 days of your subscription start date

When the right is waived

According to Article 16(m) of the EU Consumer Rights Directive, the right of withdrawal does not apply to the supply of digital content when performance has begun with the consumer's prior express consent and acknowledgment that they thereby lose the right of withdrawal.

"The supply of digital content which is not supplied on a tangible medium if the performance has begun with the consumer's prior express consent and his acknowledgment that he thereby loses his right of withdrawal." — EU Consumer Rights Directive, Article 16(m)

If you have run a scan, the digital service has been delivered and you waive your right of withdrawal.

How to exercise your right of withdrawal

If you wish to withdraw within the 14-day period and have not used the service, email us:

Include: your full name, registered email address, order/subscription reference, date of subscription, and a clear statement that you wish to withdraw.

3. Cancellation Policy

Cancel anytime

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings or by contacting us.

What happens when you cancel

  • Your subscription remains active until the end of your current billing period
  • You continue to have full access until the end of the paid period
  • You will not be charged for subsequent billing periods
  • No refunds are provided for the remaining time in your current billing period

Example: If you subscribe on the 1st of a month and cancel on the 15th, you will have access until the end of the month and will not be charged the following month. No refund will be provided for the 15th to the end of the month.

4. No Partial Refunds

We do not provide partial refunds for:

  • Unused time within a billing period
  • Unused scans or features
  • Change of mind after using the service
  • Dissatisfaction with scan results, which are AI-generated and informational only

5. Exceptions — Technical Failures

When we may consider a refund

  • The service was completely unavailable for an extended period due to technical issues on our end
  • You were unable to use the service due to a critical bug we could not resolve
  • You were charged incorrectly due to a billing error

How to request a refund for technical issues

Include: detailed description of the problem, screenshots or error messages if available, and dates and times when the issue occurred. We will respond within 5 business days.

6. Unauthorised Charges

If you believe you have been charged without authorisation, contact us immediately at info@scanthegap.com. We will investigate and resolve the issue promptly. Unauthorised charges will be refunded in full. Before disputing a charge with your bank, please contact us first — we can usually resolve billing issues quickly and directly.

7. Refund Processing

  • Approved refunds are processed within 5–10 business days
  • Refunds are issued to the original payment method via Stripe
  • Your bank or card issuer may take an additional 5–10 days to show the refund

8. Annual Subscriptions

The same policies apply as for monthly subscriptions. The 14-day EU withdrawal right applies if you have not used the service. Once you have used the service, no refunds are provided. We do not provide pro-rata refunds for annual subscriptions — if you cancel after 6 months, no refund is provided for the remaining 6 months.

9. Service Discontinuation

If we discontinue the ScanTheGap service entirely, we will provide at least 30 days' notice and pro-rata refunds for any unused prepaid time.

10. Governing Law

This Refund Policy is governed by the laws of Germany and EU consumer protection regulations where applicable.
